I bought The Lady Eve (soooooooooo funny) & watched it with Lady Of Burlesque (my favorite Stany film) so decided to make a batch of  Barbara Stanwyck icons. It's a small batch but there is a few Mae West icons thrown in for good luck.

1-18 Barbara Stanwyck
19-23 Mae West

A network of interests! [Friday, Dec. 5/08 - 22:59PM]

I'm hoping you're all enjoying the Christmas month. I am working on creating a network. It's called classic World Cinema: http://classiccinema.ning.com/
I really love the idea of a network, because you don't need to find a hosting site for your pictures and videos and in full quality ---> it's all there. And you can blog, make your own page with all the stuff you want and it's easy to use.

This means I can share my huge and vast collection of magazines/clippings/old articles and put it up which i already have (so can you) - I have scanned a bunch of Barbara Stanwyck scans (still working on getting more up, but have 4 albums up now).

Furthermore, I love that you can create groups, make photo albums in HQ (it shows up in small, and then you can click on it to get it bigger). I just wish more people would be interested in this sort of thing. Another thing is, I know people have websites with classic stars and this network is a perfect place to promote it in the groups, but also in people's own pages where when you blog, you can write about the updates on the page and spread the word about your page.
I haven't begun promoting it yet, because I'm not completely done yet, however if anyone wants to share the love for classic world cinema and join, you're so very welcome to it, and maybe even spread the word, even if it's still early in the process. I'd love to make the Barbara Stanwyck group an active one :)

All I Desired... [Thursday, Oct. 23/08 - 12:30PM]

eddax
to buy for my Barbara Stanwyck DVD collection was the Oz release of All I Desire, lol.

And I found it at JB Hifi in Melbourne!

It was kinda expensive (AUD$32) for just one "special" feature (a commentary by someone I've never heard of), but at least the transfer's s'posed to be excellent (I haven't watched it yet) so I'm ahppy and excited about it!

I'm new to this community and new to Stanwyck's work, but I'm mesmerized. One hell of a woman, one hell of an actress. Can't waito to see more and more of her films. I've seen Double Indemnity, The Lady Eve and Ball of Fire so far, any suggestions?

For now, some Missy Icons...

holy jeez, this is exciting... [Tuesday, Aug. 15/06 - 19:17PM]

hello hello.  :)  missy's my favorite queen in the whole wide world and i'm overtly ecstatic that there is a little group dedicated to her.  and to find other people as drawn to her as well.  she certainly deserves a community.  :)

Name: Saoirse
Age:22
Favorite Missy Film: this is a hard one, but i'll have to say CLASH BY NIGHT
Favorite Character: this is another hard one...jean harrington
Why do you love Missy?: how long have you got?  hee hee.  she was amazingly talented, could play anything, was absolutely the sexiest creature alive (even in that blonde wig...you know the one i'm talking about...and anyone who could give fred mcmurray a hard on in that wig is DEFINATELY too hot to handle...and babs was DEFINATELY it.  she was the read deal.  she came from nowhere, had no family, nothing, and shared her creativity with an entire audience as if we were watching a slice of her own life.  i'm not very eloquent about it, all i know is that she's the best thing to ever happen to my life from the time i was about 8 because watching her makes me truly joyful and not feel alone.  and that's saying something.

little ruby stevens definately left her mark

Today is Barbara Stanwyck's birthday, and was she still alive (She died in 1990, at age 83), she would have been 99 years old.

To celebrate this versatile actress, here is some DOUBLE INDEMNITY (1944) screencaps:
